Playing Fixer Upper

We weren't actively looking for a new house. But neither one of us could resist perusing Realtor.com or signing up to receive new listing alerts for our favorite neighborhoods. And let's be honest; everyone who knows us well, knows we are serial movers.

Then Fairwood Drive popped up. The timing was horrible; it was the beginning of a super busy summer. We said "we'll just look."

The minute we walked in the house at that first showing, we fell in love. Our minds went crazy thinking of the possibilities, the potential, what this house could be.

We talked, we prayed, we dreamed. We did a second showing and then a third. We looked at other houses in the area, we looked at building, but always came back to this house.

Fast-forward 3 months, through a made and lost offer, a second offer, lots of craziness, and the home was ours. While Matt wanted to break out the sledgehammers right away, we decided to move in and live in the house for awhile before diving into major renovations. That decision proved to be incredibly wise, as living in the house gave us a chance to choose renovations that would make the most sense for our family and how we use the house.

Fast-forward another 3 months and we've swung the sledgehammers and are in full renovation mode. We're channeling our inner Chip and Jo and turning this house into our dream home.
